I’m back from Berlin and what a whirlwind weekend I’ve had! As you know I was attending The Hive Blog Conference 2012. This was the first Hive conference and I’m sure it won’t be the last as it seemed to be a great success.
We were treated to some wonderfully inspirational and informative talks on all manner of blogging topics. We also got to meet and network with a host of new and seasoned bloggers. I met some really lovely people – in particular Toni and Thea of Sister Mag, Clara of Taste Sheriff as well as Jeanette of Fryd og Design.
Jeanette gave an interesting presentation about Online Magazines. She talked with such grace about her own experiences and vision, whilst giving useful advice.
Thea and Toni of Sister Mag produced a dynamic talk called New and Traditional Media which left me feeling really inspired to make use of more technology and widen my creative ideas for blogging.
My favourite talk of the conference was by Deborah of Kickcan & Conkers. Finding New and Innovative Content was her topic – something she demonstrates with abundance on her blog. Like me, she strives to find small independent artists and designers to promote. I loved her enthusiasm for keeping things fresh.
I was also truly inspired by the ever-so-humble Gabrielle of Design Mom. She spoke about The Business of Blogging and described her journey from beginner to blogger-extraordinaire.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to all the great speakers at The Hive 2012. If you pop back tomorrow I’ll show you some more images from the event and venue.

Great post-again Sophie!

Thanks Caroline! x

I missed Deborah’s talk…. not sure where I was.
Really nice photos. Rotten in the South of France? Quick, brighten up, I’m coming.
It’s really good to see people’s different reviews of the same event. It’s like looking at a piece of art from different angles.
Hope training course was not too bad. x
I liked Deborah’s talk, she’s my kind of style so it was interesting to hear her talk about searching out little known handmade artists from the other side of the world etc.
Thanks hun. When are you off to South of France? At least we’re getting some nice weather here this week – rather unexpectedly!
Yes definitely, so many great reviews out there, and we’re getting to see some of the parts of the weekend we missed.
Training course still on till Thursday so half way there. I don’t want to get on a train for a while after this!
See you soon x
Hi Sophie loved meeting you at the HIVE – so impressed with the people I have met, the speakers and the workshops. Only sad we didn’t get to chat much – but I hope to catch up with you on our blogs or email, and perhaps next time I’m in the UK
Take care xox
Hi Anya,
Definitely let us know if you’re heading to London any time! x
It was great to meet you too! Yes, I wish we’d chatted more. I’ll definitely be bookmarking your blog so I hope to chat lots through that
Thank you so much for your kind words and including us in your post. I am really glad we got to meet this weekend and got a chance to talk a little more on Friday evening! Yours is still my favourite business card of all!
Yours, Thea
You’re welcome Thea, the same goes for you too! I’ll be keeping a close eye on Sister Mag. Thanks to you and Toni I’ve come away with lots of inspiration and feel reinvigored about my blog. It was lovely to chat and I hope we keep in touch.
Sophie x
So glad to see that more people were happy about the whole event – I also enjoyed some of the same speakers as you.
I’m not sure if we exchanged cards (still going through my stack) but I remember seeing you. I’m one of the many girls coming down from Copenhagen, I write a blog on handmade, knitting and Copenhagen (+ some of my life in the whole mix too). Hope to see you there next year
Hi Heidi,
I’m sad we never got to chat. I did see you too, but I’m quite shy and was a little overwhelmed with the whole networking thing, so only really chatted with a few people. You’d remember if you’d got my card – mine were a bit crazy – vintage postcards.
I love that so many people came from Copenhagen, I’ve still never been but it’s on my list of cities to visit soon!
I’ve just checked out your blog – your write up of the Hive is ace, that picture of the staircase is amazing! Why am i telling you this here? I’m off to yuor blog again to say hi ….. Sophie x
It’s very late and I’ve just got back. It’s absolutely rotten weather here in the south of France but I’m feeling uplifted and inspired by everything I’ve seen and heard at The Hive! Glad you enjoyed my talk
Thank you for stopping by Deborah. I hope you got back ok, sad to hear you haven’t got nice weather though – has it improved today? It was wonderful in middle England this afternoon.
I really did love your talk and I’ll be thinking about what you’ve said and how I can improve my blog. I’ll stop by and say hi again soon x
