Welcome to Hidden Blossom – where I share inspiring interiors, furniture/furnishings and styling ideas with a vintage twist. Here you’ll see an insight into my life and the little details that make me happy.
‘Hidden Blossom’ is the name I give to everything stylish that I discover and feel needs to be shared with the world. My blog is about unveiling creativity, bringing out into the open something which might have gone forgotten.
I have a passion for vintage objects and textiles, upcycling and the history of design. I love eclectic interiors. I believe in the phrase ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ – there is too much waste in this world.
Everything you see on my blog is something I’ve personally chosen to shout about – because it speaks to me creatively. If you like it too, then I’m really pleased. I love to hear what makes other people tick so feel free to say hello and share with me your inspirations or leave a comment about what you’ve seen here.
About Me
My name is Sophie, I’m 28 and I am a manager at a large mixed-use cultural and commercial development in the heart of Oxford.
A Quick Bio
I was born in West Sussex, in a little town sandwiched nicely between the coast and the South Downs. My youth was filled with artistic projects – my parents taught my two sisters and I to draw and get creative in every way possible. My love of interiors was fuelled by trips to country houses and places of historic interest. My first job was in a haberdashery where I got to play with ribbons and lace and help people choose their curtains.
My passion for art led me to study Art History at university, where I specialised in the History of Display, as well as taking a year concentrating on Fine Art and learning Italian language, before spending a semester living and studying in Venice– la Serenissima!
I then studied for a certificate in Arts and Cultural Management and subsequently moved to Oxford and became the manager of a contemporary art gallery, where, for three years, I worked with some incredible fine artists, photographers and designer-makers.
Wanderlust got the better of me and in 2010 I flew off to Asia for 5 months and fulfilled my life-long dreams of travel. I hope to see more of the world soon!
All the while, my adult life has seen me blogging, photographing, making and styling, but never quite bringing all this creativity together. A believer in life-long learning – I am currently studying for a photography diploma, and taking classes in interior design. In 2011 I decided to draw everything together and launch Hidden Blossom. Here I hope to share my love of styling, decorative details and great design with you.
Sophie x

Great intro! I used you as my sample for our homework on blogging 2.0! Did you just create it from this class or was is already this good?
Hi Cathy,
Thank you! That’s so sweet of you – I’m glad it’s been well received. I had something similar written before i took part in BYW1 last year, and then tweaked it during that class
